Last Sunday, Harper went to Marrickville Metro for the first time. It was so excitin
g he slept through it. We were at a pub around the corner at an ante natal class reunion. Not ours, Dan and Helens. And they didn't even end up going. But we caught up with Rowena, who we did our ante-natal classes with back in 2005, which was great. And the Golden Barley Hotel is always a bit of a giggle, crazy food and an excellent beer garden.
Ah, Marrickville. Always close to our hearts, although Campsie may usurp you yet.
Our friend Linda Green did some work to this pic, making it black and white and, er, retouching around Penny's eyes ever so slighty. The bags weren't that bad, honest.
Anyway, we think it's a lovely pic of mum and baby. Just ignore the spew rag there.
Watching the footy is hard work, almost as hard as playing. That's why a good bath afterwards is so rewarding.
It was just a shame our mighty Hawks went down to the Purple Fairies. Booooooo.
Well, it was Mother's Day, so the ladies had to win I guess.
And then there's this, me in the car seat. Now family and friends, it's time for the first ever Harper Maxwell Perrett Super Quiz!
Am I:
a) really unhappy about Dad's choice in car seat
b) annoyed John Farnham is on the radio
c) singing along to Guns 'n' Roses
d) screaming 'I want boob!'
There is no prize for the right answer, as when you are two weeks old, it's probably all of the above.
Peace out...and welcome to my jungle
Harper
People who shall remain nameless keep insisting that I look like my uncle Thomas. I personally can't see it - see photo for evidence.
Today there is a bonus story: on the day Harper was born, I caught a taxi home to get some rest as Penny was taken upstairs and was in a shared room and I couldn't really hang around.
Anyway, got chatting to the taxi driver, as you do, told him my news, he was pretty nice about it, he dropped me off, all was cool.
Then last light we have Ceri over. Ceri is a Welsh girl who Penny met through Richard, who did Max's celebration in the park. We all had a few quiet drinks and some very nice stinky cheese she brought with her before it was time for her to head home.
She calls a taxi and leaves. About half an hour later, we get a text message from her - she got the same taxi driver who drove me home last week. He remembered the address, and asked Ceri how the baby was doing.
Of all the taxi drivers in this city...and he was a nice bloke. Glad I tipped him last week.
adam.
Bonus pic! Harper snapped being weighed about 20 minutes after birth. And didn't he love it. Oh yeah.
Friends and family, Harper turned one week today. His plans for world domination are going well - in the last few days, he has been to the local bottle shop, supermarket, bank and doctor (just for a check up).
We have learnt he likes the car, pouch and bath. See here: bath time. Maybe it's the feeling of warm water on his bott-bott, the sensation of floating in a kitchen sink or just stretching the legs and discovering the air outside the water is cold, Harper is into it.
Tuesday's could well become the day we (try to) update this blog. It's ambitious but hey, that's the crazy kids we are.
Speaking of us, we're doing good. There has been sleeping, eating and a few beers, wine and lots of cheese. Mmmmmm, cheese.
